Description: Verso in pencil, "Ralph Steiner negative and print 1929." Printed by the artist. This photograph appeared in Fortune Magazine, May, 1930 in an essay titled, "Vanishing Backyards."
Provenance: Accompanied by a copy of a letter from Steiner to Charles Schwartz from 1983. In the letter, Steiner describes the location and context of the photograph at Yaddo in Saratoga Springs. He also mentions visiting Paul Strand.
